As a former resident of Gailor Hall I am hoping to locate other former residents.  Feel free to explore the information on this site and contribute your story on the guest book which you can find on the “Alumni Stories” tab.  I have compiled a history from various documents and my personal memories.  If an error of omission or submission is found please contact me at email beckpaulbeck@gmail.com.  Paul Beck

  1. Hello. My name is Margaret Josephine Fosco, nee Margaret Josephine Watts, daughter of the Rev. David Eugene Watts and Mildred Irene Watts. I was born on March 7th, 1949 while my parents lived and worked at St. Andrew’s School, Sewanee, Tennessee. My father became Director of Gailor Hall in November (I guess), 1949. I have a newspaper clipping with a short caption about the event but the photo is of me and my mother. I am going to scan this for my scrapbook but I don’t suppose you want that. If I have a couple of pictures from my baptism showing my father but no portrait style photos of that period. I will share them with you if I find any, or anything pertaining to G.H. at this period. I know absolutely nothing about his time at G.Hall. Our next “assignment” was at Calvary Church, Memphis where Fr. Watts became Assistant to Dr. Donald Henning. I was looking for something on Gailor Hall and thank you for your website. I don’t have any more to contribute but maybe in the future I’ll turn something up.
Meanwhile, if you have a more complete history of that period of time, names of professors or anything, maybe some name will ring a bell that I’ve heard a story. My mother must have played some part at Gailor Hall however small. Dorm mother like? David and Mildred were very active and fairly prominent in Youth Ministry during their early years together. In 1955 Dad got his own parish, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Batesville, Arkansas and became or continued to be prominently involved with Episcopal Young Churchmen on the Provincial Level in Province VII of the Episcopal Church USA. (That’s Ark., Texas, Oklahoma and four other states one of which might be Tennessee).
    Respectfully submitted,
    Margaret J. Fosco
I’m moving to San Angelo, TX on September 15th. The best way to reach me since I do not have pertinent information or archives to share with you is my email address below. Best regards, Margaret
